The upcoming international human rights education conference “Educating for Human Rights, Peace and Intercultural Dialogue’ is not far away and early bird concessions end on 1 October 2011.
The conference will be held on the 4-6 November in Sydney and will examine the contribution of a human rights culture to the good functioning of civil society; will highlight key trends and achievements in human rights education, in particular in Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, and it will aim to advance human rights education both domestically and internationally. Over 40 speakers will address the conference including Justice Michael Kirby, the Hon Catherine Branson, the Hon Robert McClelland and Julian Burnside from Australia and many world authorities on HRE from Europe, Asia, Africa and Americas.
The conference has been endorsed by the Australian Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition and by key Australian universities. Conference papers will be published in an international academic journal Education and Society and in a book.
