Jacob from "Lajkonik" ansamble with Mexican dancers Fot. "Lajkonik" |
Lajkonik danced
alongside various Ensembles from India, Thailand, Mexico and others as part of
a special programme put together by Artistic Director Ruchi Sanghi from the
Indian Community. Each group danced into each other’s programme, and at the end
there was a joint finale of all performers.
It was very dynamic, colourful and inspiring! Next year this concept of integration and
collaboration through dance is to be further extended and developed.

Thanks to
wonderful young people in Lajkonik, I can rely on them being willing to
organise their busy lives, to leave the couch in front of the TV, to leave
their ipads and computers – and come together with their fellow dancers to do
something worthwhile for the community. It
doesn’t happen automatically. Each
performance and each dance has to be practised during rehearsals, and then
co-ordinated to ensure everyone is available, knows where to go, has means of
transport, etc.

Whenever time
permits in our busy schedule, Lajkonik takes opportunities to join with other
nationalities to show off our beautiful Polish culture, and also to show that
we are willing to work together with others, and appreciate their cultures too. We feel richer by that experience.
If you
believe in what we are doing, please support Lajkonik. You can do this in two ways – either by
coming to our concerts or by becoming a sponsor. Check out Lajkonik Sydney Facebook for
details of our next pre-New Zealand Tour concert, MAKE SURE YOU LIKE OUR PAGE, or
make a donation to help us achieve even more.
We deeply appreciate and value each and every one of our supporters.
